A House with History and Responsibility

Our baroque main building, erected before 1750, can proudly be described as the oldest building in Neubaugasse. The historic façade is particularly noteworthy, the unique structural design with old Viennese “Pawlatschen” corridors and the idyllic house garden. Due to its historical value, the building was therefore placed under a preservation order by the Federal Office for the Protection of Monuments. The construction of our 7 townhouses in the inner courtyard was carried out in close consultation with the authorities and is both a task and a responsibility for us.

1550

Neubaugasse was built in 1550 after the first Turkish siege.

1833

In 1833, there were 328 houses with 17,478 inhabitants: this was the center of the trimmings industry (manufacturers of braids, tassels, fringes and decorative cords). Neubaugasse was given its current name in 1862 (formerly Lange Gasse and Neubau Hauptstraße).

ca. 1900

A horse-drawn omnibus line once ran along Neubaugasse, in 1900 the electric streetcar ran along Neubaugasse for the first time and from 1907 the cars of line 3 ran along Neubaugasse. From 1913 to 1945, lines 3 and 13 shared Neubaugasse, after which there was only the 13 line until 1961.
